Due to pandemic, work-at-home situations, home offices, outdoor living spaces, and multi-function rooms, and flexible space all increased in popularity, according to the AIA’s research from the third quarter of 2020.
Other wished-for features included mudrooms, au pair and in-law suites, larger kitchens, space for exercise and yoga, and sunrooms and three-season porches.
Among the increasingly popular features for accommodating multi-generational living were a first-floor primary bedroom, on-grade entry, and easy-to-use features like handles.
When it comes to home exteriors, over 60 percent of respondents list low maintenance/durable exteriors as their most sought-after feature for the exterior of their homes.
